Citrus Hour | American Sour

A dry hopped, drinkable summertime sour. But not a beer that makes you pucker up - it has enough sourness to dry out your pallet and wanting more. Pineapple and citrus on the nose. Brett funk up front with lemon peel and apricot. Subtle lactic acidity follwed by a dry finish and lingering honeydew. Approcahble, drinkable, naturally sour.

"The Citrus Hour is a beer that we created to be your ultimate drinkable summertime sour. When we were thinking about it, we didn’t want it to be too sour  - a lot of places you go, you drink a sour, and the first sip you can feel it from your chin to your ears. And it makes you pucker up. And that’s nice for certain times, but other times you want something you can just drink, and keep drinking, and it doesn’t make you pucker up every single time. It has enough sourness to dry out your palate and want more.

We developed the base of the sour to be something that has very moderate sourness - on a scale of 1 to 10 it’s probably a 3.5 to 4. Something that’s very approachable, especially for people who don’t necessarily like sours. I wanted something that they could come in and taste and not feel like, "Ah, I hate sours," but think, "Maybe this will get me into sours." Because the sourness that comes with the beer is nicely paired with the Citra hop, which gives those lemon, citrus characteristics. So instead of thinking of it as a sour beer, it’s more a beer with naturally occurring tartness that pairs well with the maltiness. It creates a beer that’s very drinkable; your ultimate summertime beer."
